First responders in Aberdeen are investigating an apparent homicide and shooting that required a man to be airlifted to a Maryland trauma center for treatment.
Shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, officers and paramedics from the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to the unit block of East Inca Street for a reported cardiac arrest, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Upon arrival, officials said that they found a 20-year-old woman dead, “suffering from injuries consistent with a homicide.”
Police officers secured the scene and detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the area to assume the investigation.
Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause of death, according to fire officials.
Hours later, at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, officers from the Aberdeen Police Department responded to a medical call for a man found lying on the road in the unit block of Aberdeen Avenue.
Officers arrived and located a subject who was suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Paramedics were summonsed to the scene, where they performed life-saving care before the victim was flown to the hospital in serious, but stable condition.
Investigators have not released the names of either victim. The investigation into both instances is ongoing.
